Community Support
Our firm belief is that travel is an important exchange and it is always our intention to better not only the lives of our guests but also the lives of the communities to which we travel. Especially in the Himalayas, the old way of life is being challenged with modernisation and too often tourism does little to preserve the very features on which its future is dependent. Ancient cultural traditions, smiling faces, relaxed friendly exchanges, majestic scenraey, untouched wildlife, and above, all shared meaningful moments in an out of the ordinary setting - all these make travel something meaningful and special.
This is the speciality for Druk Expeditions and its team. We would like to help you come into contact with people and places from the other side of the planet in ways that enrich the lives of each other. We would also like to assist you to give back in a variety of ways that assists often remote and poorer areas, to preserve local traditions and ancient values of wisdom and care.
To this end we have a number of volunteer programmes that you may wish to engage in during one or more days of your travel. It may be visiting an orphanage, helping to build a community school, or donating sunglasses or tools. Volunteering and supporting in these small ways as part of your travel plans can not only be a rewarding experience for you but also an empowering experience for local communities.
