TIBET,
the mystic Shagri La, the Forbidden Kingdom on the roof of the world
has captured man's imagination for centuries.
Great explores & adventures of the century have ventured into this
holy land rendered inaccessible by the hostile natural conditions
& bandits that waylaid them on their journeys through the Himalayas.
Despite untold ravages which occurred during the "Cultural Revolution",
Tibet's past grandeur, majesty, magic & mystery still remains undiminished.
One can still see today nomads herding their yaks, pilgrims worshipping
at sacred shrines & the expansive, striking & enduring Himalayan
topography. Tibet is truly an adventurers paradise.
Religion & Culture Tibet is known for its unique culture and religion.
Buddhism influenced Tibet after Songtsaon Gampo, the 33rd Tibetan
King married Bhrikuti, a Nepali Princess. After the marriage Buddhism
slowly started to replace the Bon religion and it took a better
shape after the King’s Minister translated the first Buddhist scripture.
Buddhist scripture is believed to have been descended from the heaven
around 5th century and was written in Sanskrit. Now Buddhism is
the soul of Tibet and Tibetans. Small number of population are Muslim
and there is no trace of Christians and other religions.
