ITINERARY
Day 01: Lhasa - Gyantse - Shigatse
Early morning we drive to Gyantse. This takes us over two passes -Khamba La (4800m) and Karo La (5010m) and on the way we take a short walk by the beautiful Yamdrok Yumtso Lake to view the Karo La Glacier. In Gyantse, we visit Pelkhor Monastery including its Kumbu Stupa. Later we proceed to Shigatse - the second largest city in Tibet. We stroll around the old town before dinner.
Day 02: Shigatse - Tingri
After breakfast, we'll visit Tashilumpo Monastery and the new palace of the Panchen Lama. Later we drive over Gantsola Mountain Pass (5220m) to arrive in Tingri where we stay the night.
Day 03: Tingri - Everest Base Camp
It is about 100km from Tingri to the highest monastery in the world - Rongbuk and it is a further 8km hike from Rongbuk Monastery to the Everest Base Camp approx. 2 hours. View the highest peak on the planet.
Day 04: Everest Base Camp - Shigatse
Drive about 350km back to Shigatse and relax. We sometimes drive back to Shigatse on Day 05 if guests prefer better accommodation.
Day 05: Shigatse - Lhasa
We return to Lhasa via Yarlung Tsangpu River (Brahmaputra). |
